Committee Chair David Gray presented a proposal to revise the admission
requirement for undergraduate transfer students to the following wording: “Applicants who have completed 30 or more
hours of transferable credit must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point
average or a 2.0 grade point average on the most recently completed 30 semester
hours (including all grades in the semester containing the 30th SCH).” After discussion confirming that
probationary students who obtain transfer hours will remain on probation, the
Assembly approved this revision.
Remarks
by the President. President Witt
stated that we are near finalizing the scope of our construction activity. As publicized, we have received $16.6
million in tuition revenue bonds and $13 million in PUF funding authority. We are in the process of determining the
extent to which we will issue our own revenue bonds. What this pool of resources, we will be going forward with the
new Science building, the annex to accommodate several of the fine arts
programs, a major renovation of space left by these fine arts programs, and possibly
some renovation work in at least one of the old science buildings. The President also explained that we are planning
with an agency to coordinate our advertising efforts, which would substantially
reduce our advertising costs as well as bring our promotion materials to a
higher level. We will continue to advertise
in U.S. News and World Report, Time and Newsweek for the coming year.
We will develop a communications plan that will allow us to increase
efficiency and effectiveness.
Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 2:35 p.m.
